Ability to have different actions on one object in different scenes
The issue / current approaches
Imagine this, you have a single character rig, used in multiple different scenes. A main character in different locations maybe
Your approaches are either
-
Duplicate/Spawn in a completely new instance of the character rig, and then set the new action on it.
-
Have one single action, and character rig for all scenes, and make sure they dont interfere with eachother.
-
Use NLA strips and cover different actions in different times
(2. and 3. also only work provided the scenes time frames don't overlap)
Solution
None of these approaches are great, and it would be better if it was possible to have a single character rig in multiple scenes, but using different actions for each of them.
That way you can reuse the exact same character rig, with no duplication, or .001 .002 .003 so on versions of the same character, or fear of messing up the animation of one scene when working on another.
And it would simplify my workflow greatly.
In practice it could just be another button, next to the action drop-down, that makes the selected action unique to this particular scene.
