Please add 'Origin to base' to 'Set Origin' menu
The first thing many modelers do, mainly on cubes, is set the origin to the base. This is not straightforward in blender with just a single function to bind to a shortcut while needing this all the time. So for this I have an addon installed now. But while cleaning up addons to free resources and unnecesary complexity / maintenance I really wonder why this has never been added to blender as it's such an important feature for so many people while not being too complex I think to add. Honestly I think this should be available natively in Blender.
Therefor this request: Could there please be added a new function to the rightclick --> 'set origin' menu:
- Origin to base
(Which places the origin to the center of the bottom face of the boundingbox of the object)
I really think that function belongs there and would make a lot of people happy!
Thanks for considering!

Yes!
this is very annoying and thats why i developed a dedicated node tool which i have assigned a shortcut to it (Shift+pg down),
"Origin to Base" would mean what actually? Simple enough with a Cube object maybe, but the logic from something else would be like what, the lowest plane of the bounding box? If I manually were to do this, moving the object up in Z while the cursor is still at World Origin would mean using "Origin to Cursor" once I have aligned to the world plane maybe. If this could work with a reduction of steps that would be cool.
Yep - center point of the lowest point of the bounding box.
(I have an addon script that does this, quite useful. So, not sure it needs to be added into Main features, as it's already easy with addon.)
Good point to explain it better: Exactly as thom wrote: the origin would go to the center of the bottom face of the boundingbox. I've adjusted the post.
