Edit Mode should have Wireframe Opacity setting ( same as Object Mode has)
Currently, Object Mode has a setting for Wireframe Opacity, which allows you to have really nice looking wireframes.
It would be nice and useful if the same setting was in use in the Edit Mode too.
Of course, it is fully objective, if one wants faint or distinctive Wireframes. I personally like faint, as wireframes often obscure the shape when I'm modelling. But not too faint, so I can see the Topology.
As the Option is there for the Object Mode, I think it would be good to have in Edit Mode too. It is an existing feature and I don't see any good reason to not have it in Edit Mode too.
Also, the faint Wireframe gives a much clearer view of the dense objects. Especially when zoomed out, dense mesh becomes just a black blot. This doesn't happen in Object mode when using lower Wireframe Opacity.
Should the Edit Mode use the same Wireframe Opacity as the Object Mode? I don't know. I might want to have the option to either use individual or shared Opacity. But that leads to more settings, and that is not ideal.

I agree. Is there a reason the viewport setting can't just be used for both?
Absolutely essential. Additional settings are not a problem. Most of the time you set it once and you're done. And actually those could be the same settings (i mean UI wise - placed in same space). Just in edit mode you see one "Edit Wireframe Opacity" and in object "Wireframe Opacity".
+1
It would be a huge relief when editing UVs. Currently, I have to hide the overlays completely. It's not too bad with a shortcut, but it would be much more convenient to be able to lower the wireframe opacity a little in edit mode (3D Viewport, not UV Editor) as well.
I'd argue the mesh is unreadable in both cases. Do you ever need to work on mesh from such distance ?
Though it does "feel" weird not having the same control of wireframe across the interaction modes.
I don't have to work from such distance. But if there are for example some small details, Bolts etc. They became just black mess. Even If I don't work with those details, I would like to see them clearly.
