Improve Tracks Creation Experience
Creating tracks for vehicles/tanks proved to be a real issues in Blender. Contrary it's a blaze to deal with in CAD. I'm hoping similar solution can be implemented in Blender. Below is demonstration of the process in Fusion.
You can do something similar in Blender with Array and Curve modifiers. Unfortunately the result is incorrect. Mesh gets deformed. It's not a real life behavior.
There is another better option with instances thought. It's the only way I discovered to create correct track assembly without mesh deformation. Unfortunately it's very convoluted process.
3. Tracks with Using Instances
I suggest to simplify creating array following curve. You need to build it based on Array modifier choosing Fit Type > Fit Curve and select the curve. Object should spread by the curve similar to CAD example. You should be able to control the number of instances. It's also important to let user keep child mesh shape and don't distort it along the curve. As well as keep option available where it can be distorted. When it's useful in this particular case? As an example tanks have metal and rubber tracks. Metal tracks won't deform as opposed to rubber tracks which will.
Finally, there is no clear way to animate tracks. I researched YouTube and there is barely any useful information on the matter.
Please have a look into it and maybe improve this functionality closer to what CADs offer now.
P.S. I'm posting this suggestion on behalf or the Russian Blender community.
