Heavy use of parallel computing

Would be possible to update all the suitable loop in the Blender source code with parallel loop from the C/C++ standard library or boost? Lately almost everybody has octacore CPUs and even bigger CPUs are on the market (one above all, the ThreadripperV2 , with 64 threads ) updating these could make Blender more responsive, other than allowing to use even bigger scene, currently unfeasible due to the huge amount of time required for the computations

As "suitable loops" I mean those that can be changed with:

  • parallel map
  • parallel filter
  • parallel reduce
  • ...
  • a combination of one or more

With the two assumptions:

  1. the code inside the loop can be extracted as pure function
  2. and it can be used inside one of the aforementioned high order functions

The result is having parallel code out of the box :D

Maybe this could help as well github.com/Dobiasd/FunctionalPlus/

I mean blender currently uses OpenMP for some of the physics stuff so I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to branch that kind of out a bit into other parts of blender.
