Connected weight paint radius
Blender always manages to make our work difficult in some ways. Its cool and all with the new sculpting and modeling features, but there are still other features out there that hasn't gotten any attention for years.
The weight paint tool never managed to make automatic weights properly cause the feature depends on the separated meshes, it doesn't consider the distance between vertices.
So a feature where the automatic weights will properly connect the weight amount between the distance of vertices would help a lot in character rigging which it could also save a bit of time. Instead of adding a wrong amount of weights on separated meshes on the character model. (clothes for example)
A feature where Maya and C4D has.

In other words: Limit weight painting to topology like you can limit sculpting to a single mesh in an object?
no like, depending on the strength radius of a bone so that the amount of weight of many meshes in one object are synced together rather than having an entirely different weight amount
Ohh I understand what you mean now... btw When I need to weight paint a character with clothes I always just go with the "Data Transfer Modifier" approach
