Always open file in Solid mode

PROBLEM

If you save and close a Blender file with the shading mode set to Material Preview, once you re-open the file the shading mode is still set this way. In the case of complex scenes with lots of materials and textures, this leads to a freeze of the entire interface for several minutes for computing all the shaders.

SOLUTION

Even if you closed the file with Material Preview, Blender should always switch to Solid shading when you re-open it, leaving to the user the decision to visualize the materials immediately after opening the file.

Could be an option in the setting that you could toggle on/off.

I made a little addon for you. You can find it in the popover menu in solid shading in the 3d viewport github.com/schroef/Default-Solid-Shading

It could be done easily with a small addon which does this on load_post and then sets the tender scène preview back to solid mode if it's not active

Disabl UI load in Blender's file explorer options when browsing to open a file, or disable it in the preferences to be the default option.

Not a good solution. Sometimes UI is Documentation.

Updates to eevee should result is less likelihood of freezing when firs computing all the shaders.

Sometimes you have text files as documentation, which you can always open manually ; but what does the UI layout itself provides as documentation?

In the meantime, it definitely sounds like a reasonable solution.
