Select Similar Face Orientation
Sometimes, when you have flipped normals, selecting all and pressing
Shift
+
N
doesn't work on a few faces.
This could also be done manually, however, when there are thousands of faces like these, it's rather tedious to select them one by one.
Can the feature to Select Similar Face Orientation be added to the Select Similar dropdown in Edit Mode ? (Or in every mode, add it!)
This feature is really important sometimes and not having this leads to projects being remade.
Developers, kindly add this.

A polygon on the back of the head is facing the wrong direction, and a polygon on the front of the head is facing the wrong direction.
If I select the polygon on the back and Select Similar Face Orientation, I don't expect it to actually select the polygon on the front. Their normals are not facing in similar directions.
We'd need something that compares a face normal to the face normal of all neighbouring faces. But on a complex organic model I'd expect this to not work sometimes in small, thin, high detail areas.

Im personally think its really important to clarify what you need exactly and why. Because if you, for some reason, need to have selections options like that because its a kind of your modeling pipeline and you just need a selection of faces, despite the fact what you will doing next its a one case. And its better to clarify this. Personally i can't imagine real case when you need a selections like this, but yeah its will be nice to have it anyway.
Or you try to solve specific problem which you describe, i.e. you have a few flipped polys which ruin you model and you need to flip normals back, its a different case.
*Select all, go to Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside/inside.
I guess there was a problem framing my question, I edited it. Sometimes recalculating outside/inside doesn't work, so it would be nice to have a feature to select similar face orientations.
