Subdivision modifier interpolation and surfacing

Right now the subdivision modifier calculates subdivisions only across 3 vertexes.

For better archviz and car surfacing, it would be great to be able to select averaging the subd over 4,5,7 or even 9 Vertices. I know its computational but would give A class surfacing in blender a big posibility for automotive, product design and archviz surfacing without NURBS or Tsplines.

I do product design as well, and kinda had that feeling too. There are do some ways around it too.

If possible do a smoothing or relax with less vertices before you do subdiv? Also in some cases i found the volume smoothing addon helpfull (especially to get rid of weird mesh layouts) bartoszstyperek.wordpress.com/2018/06/19/volume-preserving-smoothing-for-blender/ costs a little bit.

Another option a corrective smooth laplacian exists as well but so far i have not found it that usefull for improving surfaces.

* @peter.boos * I dont know if the actual interpolation resolves to g2 or g3. Would be great to know.

Also thanks for the tips.
