Changing the default keymap to Industry Compatible

When new people learn 3D animation and in this case start with Blender it is later a bit of a pain when you get a job somewhere in a studio that does not use Blender to accustom to the new program's shortcuts. If you the learned Industry Compatible shortcuts from the get go the switch to a new job and another program would happen easier.

Switching the default keymap does not mean that the next time you download the newest Blender version and load your preferences from your last version that your keymap is set to Industry Compatible, instead it would load your keymap preset from the last version. Only people that download and install Blender for the first time get the Industry Compatible keymap.

This change would be a bit of a pain in the short term, since a lot of tutorials use the default Blender keymap but in the long run Blender trains its 3D artists that the change to a new job, to often a new software is a lot easier.

In my eyes that you can just download Blender for free, learn all the things you need to be fit enough to get job in the industry but then having problems accustom to the new shortcuts that differ in a lot of problems from Blender's is a real shame.

I swear by the Industry Compatible keymap! I only wish that it was more fleshed out to include more of the core functions (a lot of shortcuts are missing from the OG keymap that could be added)

Then why don't you just change it in your prefs?

I did and it helps not to mix up a lot of shortcuts when I need to switch between several programs which I think is a big plus for beginners

And it is not that the current default keymap would be gone, just not the default anymore

All current Blender users don't really loose anything

There is no industry standard 3D software shortcut list. Every software has its own shortcuts.

Of course there is not a complete standard, every software has some differences

But in Blender you can choose between Industry Compatible, as the name already suggests is more compatible with other software, which means faster learning and switching to other softwares or use Blender's which has not a lot to-do with others which means switching to another software is met with more frustration
