Why don't Blender devs attempt to recreate E-cycles or update the rendering code?

E-Cycles is just amazing. By replacing and removing redundant code, the dev has effectively reduced render times by 41x! This is, in my opinion, very important. Shouldn't the Blender team start something here because this is completely possible by Blender?

41x is clickbait fantasy! </br> I had the chance to try it out and I was not that impressed: many artefacts, especially black spots (RGB 0,0,0) here and there. Vanilla Blender with tricks is almost that fast with bias but without artefacts.</br> Anyway, some of the code was donated i think after 1 year. If Blender Foundation isn't using it maybe it's because the code isn't that clean. I say this considering the continuous bugfixes the dev has to do (you can check on blenderartists thread). Also the artefacts aren't desirable.</br> My 2 cent

* @ Lsscpp * Even if the artifacts are less than half as bad as you suggest, it won't be suitable for animation.

you should more asking the E-Cycles developer why he is not collaborating with the Cycles team to improve it. It's one of the confusing things of open source that different branches of the same product co-exist and not one thing is fully fleshed out.

Maybe they don't know how to do it. If they did, cycles would be faster already.

Once there was a guy in the forums who said with assembly code optimization would speed it up a lot. I kinda wonder if indeed this is possible (and maintainable, inline asm is not that strange to a c++/c dev).

Quickly tried E-cycles, maybe saw a 30% speed up over the 2.93 alpha. It seems mostly achieved by different default render settings. Also not a fan of divergent Blender builds, not following the cutting edge main branch. Project compatibility is also another concern, although it loaded a project from 2.93 alpha just fine.
