A better workflow during precision modelling

Hi everyone, It would be great if when you try to move any geometry (whatever option you use for doing so), you could introduce the desire distance writing the multiple or submultiple meter's unit. I will put an example for a better understanding.

Imagine you are modelling a tiny detail and you need to move some of the vertices 0,5 mm along X axis. The sequence of actions would be; you select those vertices, hit G and then X and afterward you type 0,0005 to perform it. Within the change you would have to type only 0,5 mm, saving time and also not having to worry about whether you type one 0 more or less than is neccesary.

I know that this can be done after you perform the translation, once you release the mouse and the pop up window is displayed. But due it is possible then, why not to get the same benefit when you are on at full speed modelling?
