Delete UV Data

Currently, there is no method to simply remove the UVs from a selection, only remove the entire UV map from an object.

Currently, my workaround is to select the elements I want to remove the UV data from, separate them into a new object, delete the UV map from that object and then merge it back to the previous object. But even this doesn't remove the UV data, it simply moves all that data to (0,0) on the UV grid.

So if Blender won't allow for removing UV data from elements, my idea would at least allow to make it simple to add a delete function into the UV space that would take the selectiona and move all the vertices to 0,0 which would be much better than clunky workarounds.

Mesh data like UV are not and shouldn't be selective.

Well, it could be convenient even though I'm not sure how useful that would be... You can always scale the selection and move it to an empty place. If you really want to set the location to 0, select all , then shift-S cursor to origin, then shift-S selected to cursor...

Yes, there are workarounds but ultimately, it would just be easier to simply hit delete. And moving UVs isn't always an answer as outside of the UV space is still UV space just tiled.

Also, you can delete the entire UV map but if you even just UV a single Polygon of an object, all of the remaining vertices of that object that weren't UV mapped are automatically added to 0,0. So it would just make sense to have a function to delete which would do the same thing.

Yeah ! I'm not saying that this isn't a good idea, but if I had to choose, it looks like it's possible to do what you ask with current tools, while probably other thing mentioned here are basically impossible... So it falls into the good to have things rather than must have stuff !:
