Curve to Particle Groom Converter

Hello!

I do a lot of grooming in Houdini and xGen for work. But I’ve been moving to Blender more and more. I would love to be able to export a groom from Houdini as curves inside of an Alembic file, import the file to Blender, and then attach the groom to a mesh (an identical mesh to the one I did the grooming on in Houdini) as Blender standard guide particles that can then be edited and simulated within Blender.

For reference, here is an Unreal Engine plugin that allows it to ingest Alembic hair, create guides using a “guides per hair” option that generates, for example 0.1 guides per hair (or 1 guide hair per every 10 curves), and then attaches it to the model: youtu.be/Y5XjRxbwI7A (This is actually a tutorial for how to import hair from blender to Unreal, but it uses this plugin in Unreal to do it.)

Thanks for considering this idea!
