Make the UI tool kit a separate project.

As you know the linux software recently suffers of performance regression. One of the reasons is the lack of efficient UI tool kits. The last usable gtk is the 2, qt is very slow. fltk is the one of the few modern and efficient ui tk.

Therefore I'd be gratefull if you could make the Blender UI tool kit a separate project, so that any developer can use it for theyr software. Would be a gift for Linux. Thanks.

Blender is open source, and has been for nearly 20 years. If an enterprising Linux developer (there are hundreds of thousands, worldwide) wanted to take advantage of Blender's UI framework, it's there for the taking. I don't see why it should be BF's responsibility?

why you talk of "enterprising Linux developer" ? I mean any kind of developer. If you make it a separate project, with docs, its much easyer for a dev to use, as an external library, I dont mean forking, you know, like gtk. Why ? to help Linux.

enterprising

adjective

  • Ready to undertake projects of importance or difficulty, or untried schemes; energetic in carrying out any undertaking.

  • Characterized by great imagination or initiative.

Yes, i understood your request- but you have not understood my response. Why should Blender do the work? What you're asking is akin to asking a high school basketball team raise funds for an NBA team. Linux does not need our help, Blender is significantly smaller in all ways- Linux can take care of itself.

About enterprising, ok tnx, i didnt know.
Separate the projects, im not saying its a small job, but not even that big...
"Linux can take care of itself" Look like not so well... Look at all the crapware around: gtk4, systemd, wayland... it has no web browsers! Anyway even a single person can help Linux. AND maybe this tk can be used also on windows, mac, idk..

okay this is still not making sense to you for some reason so lets try it another way- lets say I'm a windows user and I donate $5000 to blender. In this hypothetical situation, I don't care about linux at all , why should my donation money go toward helping linux?

When was the last time an organized Linux foundation jumped in and helped out Blender on a feature? They are completely different projects with completely different goals! Blender's source is right there for whoever wants to go use it, if nobody has taken advantage of it yet it's clearly because they don't want to use it and it could be for any reason at all. Software is not 1:1 interchangable, you can't just take something you like from Blender and then cram it into an operating system, it doesn't work that way.

All of this is just wasted text anyway because it is never going to happen, and you can quote me on it because I guarantee it.
