Edit-Poly Modifier

Edit Poly modifier as in 3Ds Max.

I love Blender & layers of modifiers! But when you have used one of the modifiers, you need to apply it to further work with the mesh.

            • For example:
  • You used the Subdivision modifier. And you want to continue working with the mesh at some subdivision level.

To do this, you need to apply the Subdivision modifier, and only then work with the Mesh.

  • If your changes are successful, you just apply the last modifier (Edith Poly) and that's it all.
  • In case of erroneous actions, you simply remove the Edit Poly modifier and work with the previous modifier (for example, Subdivision).
  • Moreover, you can work in the Edit Poly Layer, and when you are not sure if the next steps will be correct, add another layer of Edith Poly and continue working.

It's like saving the previous step. Edit_Poly.png

  • The presence of such a modifier as Edit Poly will greatly speed up and simplify the work in Blender. It will also avoid many backups of the object you are working on.

P.S. It will be great to see the modifier in the next updates!

I noticed you're a new user, welcome! A kind word of advice: before you make a proposal, do a quick search to make sure that the idea hasn't been proposed before. In the case of Edit Poly, this has been proposed a few times already. We just want to prevent unnecessary duplicates and promote new ideas. By all means please upvote, like and comment on the original proposal to give it more exposure.

If new ideas you propose in the future are as well written-up as this one though, there's a good chance they'll be hit!

It can certainly appear that much-requested proposals get pushed down and forgotten by the constant influx of new ideas.

I think however the dev team is aware and try their best to keep track of successful proposals. The previous versions of this idea got a lot of attention so I would bet they know there is a lot of demand for this feature.

It’s best to assume they are aware and save them the frustration of many duplicates πŸ™‚.

There is a "Edit Mesh" modifer in the Modifier List addon now: extensions.blender.org/add-ons/modifier-list-fork/
