Auto Update motion paths
Motion paths are a great way to check the spacings and arcs in the animation, but they have one big problem: Not automatically updating.
They do if "auto keying" is enabled but otherwise they don't and that is a bit unintuitive because each time a change has happened in the animation, it is required to right-click and click on update motion paths; Updating motion paths takes a bit of time although it only has to change on of the points on the path if the keyframes are set to constant.

This is a feature we really need badly. Having to manually update the motion path in the viewport is a productivity killer in my opinion. If Blender has a performance hit from displaying motion paths in real-time then there is something seriously wrong.
My guess would be the developers did this intentionally to not waste performance on updating motion paths when auto-keying is turned off. Which IMO makes a lot of sense and is preferred.
My advise would be to start embracing auto keying and always leave it on while animating. That's a way faster and advised workflow overall many animators use.
