Non-proportional view scale

In Alias you can non-proportionally scale a viewport. The first image is an object looking through a regular viewport.

The second image shows two viewports side by side. The one on the right has been non-proportionally scaled. This allows me to view the geometry in an exaggerated way and I can easily spot if my vertices arent lined up nicely.

The workaround in Blender is to non-proportionally scale the object. The benefit of scaling a viewport allows me to view all my geometry non-proportionally scaled and not just individual geometry. Plus I can make micor adjustments in the scaled view and see the changes in both views.

Non-proportional scale is quite common hardsurface modeling technique. Viewport scale is quite limited solution in my opinion though.

In what way?

It require handling, also non-proportional scale allow to use any vector.

'it require handling?' what does that mean? and how does it make it a limited solution?
