Huge waste of time when scaling in blender because of the scale to mid.
In other software you just scale once because they always have a fixed point at the side, mostly the upper left corner. Thus you only scale once and have the perfect fit. In blender it is scale, move, scale, move, scale, move, scale, move, scale, move until you have the right size. Please add an option to scale to another point then the middle. One that is not bound to the origin or the 3D cursor because those only work in 3D space. Blenders horrible mid scale is everywhere even in uv and there the space is 2D.
Best would be a menu like the transform orientations with a lot of option like topLeft, top, right etc. Plus x,y,z input fields to manually set a position to scale to.
This would speed up work in blender a lot since scaling is used a lot.

I think the problem is not middle point since you can use the 3d cursor as a pivot for transform, way more versatile than a menu. But the distance of mouse cursor to the transform pivot is annoying especially with scaling because it limits the possible values and precision and in most cases you have to cancel and start again. I'd prefer to be relative just to mouse direction and with Continuous grab On. For example dragging right at any angle will scale up ad infinitum as long as I keep dragging, with a proportional rate. Draggin left should let you scale down to at the same rate no mater where mouse cursor is.
* @Ge Ro * that too if I'd already be happy if the scaling was inverted as in moving from where the coursor is to the outside. Rn I have to move away form the object to get precision.
YOu can use the addon called "CAD Transform" and it is free. this is fantastic, you will first choose a base point and then do your operation (Move, rotate, scale). gumroad.com/l/nqvcs
* @mrajendra2150 * I've tried it but the handling is really bad. You have to press at a point and then it starts rotating when you move the mouse. It still uses the mid point to scale. That is not precise at all. It's pretty much the same crap just a bit more annoying.
Use the scale cage tool. Long press the scale tool and choose the other one.
This goes very much for rotation as well!
Oh god yes. This ties into my sniping/mileage post! I second this!!! 🎖️🎖️🎖️
