Link More File Types Than .blend

Currently, Blender 4.4 seems to only support linking and auto updating from .blend files. Forcing me to re-import my models whenever I make any changes to them.

Since I don't model in Blender this is very tedious and slowing down my workflows needlessly.

I would be absolutely wonderful if we could link files from disk like .obj, .fbx and others to be auto updated whenever the source in the folder is changed. Just like it works with linked .blend files. Screenshot 2025-04-20 124319.jpg

You can do that now in 4.5 with .obj, .ply and .stl using the import nodes

Oh wow. If this is also going to work for FBX, then this could be massive! It's a little long wided to set up but with this it's possible to create an asset library pointing to files that are in a non blender native format!

You can also use the Mesh Cache modifier to point to Alembic (*.abc) files.
