Pivot to the contrast node
The current contrast node in Blender has two options: contrast and brightness. I often find this unintuitive and have to carefully tweak both settings to get the desired result. I believe Blender should add a pivot control to the contrast node, as most other render engines do. This would make adjustments more predictable and potentially eliminate the need for the brightness slider altogether.

I think you should add to this what exactly the pivot setting does?
By changing contrast you scale values. Pivot is the place that you scale from. By default you scale form the middle (0,5), so when increasing contrast values above are getting brighter and values below are getting darker, so for example value of 0,4 will get darker to lets say 0,35. If you change pivot to 0,3, value of 0,4 will become brighter to lets say 0,45 as you increase contrast.
