UV maps editing | multiple objects
Would be good to have a simple way to edit UVmaps on multiple objects.
For example, a basic window with a list of all available UVmaps from selected meshes. Exact names should be stacked on each other and shown as one UVmap.
There should be a number, next to each UVmap showing users that have it.
Selecting UVmaps from the list you should be able to make certaing actions, like:
- set as active (renderable)
- rename
- delete
- duplicate
- merge

They just need to re-design the UV editor and remove the broken design (Sync-unsync). projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/78393 there is may a hope to be fix but we dont know when.
Updating of the uv editor behaviour is a good thing for sure, but not required for this feature.
Yeah, its really nice feature I just notice you can't see UV maps if it was on multiple object and only show one, the only solution to join objects which is a bad thing.
What I believe all these problems related to the sync design if they fix it all these features can add it.
This is another one of these instances where a feature request is actually just a subset of a much larger one: We need multiple object property editing across the board not just in specific places and hidden behind a modifier key that users have to know (and that is even masked and unusable with "Emulate three button mouse" setting)
Please upvote the overall proposal so that it gets higher in urgency instead of many smaller ones that get pushed to the bottom: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/qfcbbc/
And for the record: It's been a design task on Devtalk for over three years now but there's nobody to pick it up at the moment. :(
The original idea came from a real case: I get a model with separated meshes, each one with a number of extra (junk) UV sets.
First, i had to apply a texture to see which one of them is using a wrong UV set, and set the correct ones, manually for each mesh. Then, I had to delete all the extra sets I dont need. And that is something you actually can not do in blender with on multiple objects with a single click.
So, in order to deal with it quick'n easy way we wrote a simple script that can help you clean up extra UV sets and rename the remaining one to whatever name you need.
Read the @how to use" section in the header and feel free to use/modify. Hope we can evolve it into something more usefull and user friendly, with a window/popup, UV list in it and action buttons to manipulate them all at once.
