Replace Selected Object With X Object

Basically what the title says. Have a replace modifier with an eyedropper tool. That way for instance say you are working on a building and you have a panel that you wish to replace with another one you can just pick another panel with this modifier enabled. Could be very useful for a lot more than just a building panel. You could legit block out a scene then replace the blocks with the modifier after you set it up how you want it to be. Saving a crap ton of time if you are the block out type. You could just be the type who plays the game of that does not quite work maybe this would work, no this, repeat ad-naseum.

You could have replace with a lot of options as well rotation, scale, collection etc if you wish.

I was missing too the replace modifier in max ;) but blender's alternatives work well enough

  1. You can link Object Data from the object menu or in the Object Properties panel you can select another mesh in the dropdown. Align to Transform Orientation will match the local rotation.
  2. In geometry nodes editor you can add an Object Info (it has a picker!) and replace the original Geometry Input. Maybe a Transform node before the Group Output. (First time I open this one)

* @Ge Ro * I was think of UE4 haven't used max. UE4 you can replace things willy nilly with a menu on the right side. I saw a tutorial about buildings and realized with the unique panels it would be easier to make them. Then take the other panels and replace them with it just by the UE4 method instead of snapping them into place which is a hit or miss game sometimes. A lot of the time. Then I thought about how I have the issue of this building or object looks good here, but what if and then I am like I need to drag it here or put cursor in the x location of one object center origin then put cursor in other location move selected to cursor and do it that which is annoying sometimes lol. Then my brain remembered blocking out scenes. Then I was like what if you blocked out a scene. Then built a collection of props then replaced cubes with selected objects from collection.

Sorry if I am not making sense. My brain is a bit fuzzy currently. Not sure why. It is annoying.

* @crop.circles.studio * except a thumbnail and an excelent search in UE, you have the same thing in Blender with the first option. Regarding the other problem I found that regular sleep helps :)

* @Ge Ro * I was having a low blood pressure issue at least from all that I tested. Weird but it is what it is. Yes, sleep fixed it. I hate when I wake up with my body randomly malfunctioning.
