Single Import menu for all file types
Proposal: Having a single unified Import menu for any supported meshes.
Current Problem: Currently while importing, We need to select the type of model, such as .obj, collada day, fbx, etc. before navigating through the folders. Most of the times there are several different types of meshes available to import. In order to try them we need to do select the appropriate import menu first to reveal the files.
Workflow: There should be only one menu item as 'import' for all supported types such as obj, fbx etc. Clicking on the single menu link should open the file navigation where we should be able to see all the available file types. We can have different colours to supported and non-supported file types to visually differentiate them.

@: It seems the other proposal took what I said into account for selected file extensions. Thanks for sharing the link.
@Lsscpp: Yes, I mean exactly as you mentioned in your post. Thanks for the link.
The problem is that a lot of them have options. Not sure if those could change based on what is selected.
@luisburdallo: It would be wonderful if the import options could change based on the selection.
But at least we should be able to change the file type in the same window. Then it could filter out other types of files. (either by not showing at all or by making them faded.)
can we expect this in Blender 2.90? It's 2020 already!
