The option is not often needed but expected. One use case is when exporting to PDF only the main frames of a grease pencil animation.

Would be nice touch for sure. You can do that actually using python, following this idea i developed a small add-on to select keyframes by type : github.com/Taiseibutsu/KTS_Keyframe_by_type_selectior . Did it on the run so if you find it helpfull or find some bugs feel free to share it with me :).
