Grease Pencil - Merge Points to First, Last, Center
To make consistent with the Merge tool in 3D, the Grease Pencil Point->Merge function should merge the selected vertices at center by default with the override prompt panel provide options to Merge to first, Merge to last, and Merge to center.
The current implementation of Merge is "Create a new stroke from the selected points". Perhaps this should be called "Extract".

For anyone interested, this is also a feature in the paid Blastframe add-on 'Grease Pencil: Design' blastframe.com/products/grease-pencil-design
I put together an addon that implements converge and align horizontally/vertically the points in the current selection. Search Blender.Today "Grease Pencil Extras" for the code.
I should clarify that in this instance Merge simply means moving the selected points to the same location, not joining and deleting vertices as this could have unforeseen and destructive results to filled shapes and animated tracks.
yes, extract is more consistent, maybe 'generate....' but merge not really significant
