Realize Instances Node: Add an "instance index" output port

I have a situation where I am associating data with instances from within my geometry node graph, and I need access to that data after realizing the instances. I can't find a way to do it.

If the realize instances node had a dropdown to output an instance index (none (no extra output port)/associate with vertex/associate with edge, etc.) and an output port to pull that index, I could sample the data from before realizing instances and implement this scenario.

For example, imagine there is a list of instances coming from a collection info node and a instance on points node , and a field of computed deformation parameters per instance to go with them. Now there is an operation that requires me to realize instances first and then associate the deformation parameters from before with the now resulting geometry (from intex to all of its vertices). I don't seem to have an instance index available at this point that I can use to sample the data from before, and any data I've associated with the instances is not carried over.

Oh, nice.
A very experienced Blender user pointed out to me that stored named attributes can survive the transition from instances to vertices. This means I can store the index from before, and my problem is solved. \o/

Unfortunately this doesn't work with captured attributes, but it's still functional enough so that I can continue without this proposed feature. :)

What's the reason for the downvote, modormoder?
If you're aware of another way to associate data like this, I'd really like to know. :)

That work for all attributes, not only for named. If you capture Index attribute on instances, after Realize Instances you will get instance index attribute on all geometrys.

Okay, wow. I've just tried that and it seems to work. Thank you!
