Progressive degenerate dissolve
I would like to propose to change the way degenerate dissolve works on edges.
In short, it should collapse the selected geometry one-by-one, not all at once.
Example:
Here's an example of a row of vertices I want to clean up. This could represent the output of a sculpt or a 3D scan, or the result of a boolean operation.
I want to collapse the smaller edges so that they form bigger ones.
Degenerate Dissolve could help get rid of smaller edges, but it works by collapsing all edges under a certain distance.
In this case, that means all of them.
What should happen instead is that after one edge is collapsed, the neighboring edges are re-evaluated. Because those neighbors might actually be above the threshold after the collapse.
The result would look something like this:
Similar to the "Decimate Geometry" operator, but only targeting small edges.

Blender should work on remsehing completely, in that way all boolean cleanup will be easy
