Expand Geonodes Volume Attributes

In geometry nodes currently, after volume data is set, there seems to be no way to change it afterwards. Theres no way to add, capture, or edit any data cleanly after. Capture/Store attribute doesn't work on volume domain. The spreadsheet doesn't indicate the values of the attributes but only the existence of the density attribute.

This limits many volume based operations that require interacting volumes. It can even include things like volumetric advection, volumetric combination, multi attribute data in shaders, etc.

While Volume Grids are essentially point clouds in a way, theres no smooth way to transfer attributes from volume grids to point clouds anyway.

To expand the capabilities, make volume grids an editable domain listed in attribute nodes. Also make xyz/index data listed and accessible. Making Volume grids a domain probably isn't extremely easy but it expand volume domain based operations much more flexible and easier.

I absolutely agree fully here, the volume nodes are in need of attention ( blender.community/c/rightclickselect/l23g/

There is SO much potential going to waste, and it would programatically need relatively little attention. The field socket as mentioned in the link* , and simple volume boolean operations would be incredibly powerful.

The lack of these things are critically missing in blender volume work at this moment, and unfortunately no sign of it in V4 either

*.. I genuinely think this is a bug/oversight omission.

I have a little more trust in the Blender team than that. Given they made the multicolor tornado in Cosmos Laundromat and will probably make more complex volumetrics in future (or present) open movies, I think they're aware of the limitations or will soon be. Doesn't mean we don't need to upvote this proposal though!

If geo nodes can harness the power of volumes/vdb's, it would be a huge deal. Upvoted!
