Feature Suggestion: Project Version Control
Greetings,
I’m new to Blender and I am in love with it. Thank you so much for providing it to us all.
I haven't found any similar suggestion.
So, Blender should have version control out of the box. Instead of copying the project (as insurance against future mistakes) every time I reached a milestone in the development of a project.
You should be able to:
Click to “create version”: Create a folder called “version” if not there, then copy the project there. With a “dot version number” added to the name.
Optional: a database with the version number, a name and description of the milestone.
Thanks,

Pardon my ignorance. Yes, the basic features are there. :)
There is no reference to a milestone but it better than nothing and it will save me time.
I changed mine from 1 version to 20 versions to experiment.
I was referring to saving multiple files only but calling them as project.
Would it be possible them to add an optional (via preference) popup when saving for a 50 chars or so as comment? Then, you append that to the name of file. Example of comment: "basic lights done"
You have incremental save already, but actual version control sounds way out of the scope of a DCC software and often project specific as to how folders and files are organized. Hence, i't s often either user-made or helped with pipeline tools made by a company to fit their own needs.
Blender doesn't have any notion of "project" right now. It just knows about the current open file and that's it.
Maybe I misunderstood you, but this function exists and has long been
