For a better VSE, It would be great to have an audio mixer or an audio meter.

Technically
speaking, there's already minor mixing capability through the graph editor. That could, of course, be more fully-featured, but the base is already there. The meters are really the thing that's missing.
How would you see meters being implemented? Blender doesn't have dedicated audio tracks, so doing track-based meters doesn't make any sense. We'd obviously have a master meter, but for individual strips, we'd need something different. Maybe a single preview meter that works with the active strip?

@Jason van Gumster:
I'm thinking definitely a master meter that monitors the final mixdown, and then possibly a small/low-impact meter beside each VSE track.
Maybe there could also be an "audio mixer panel" as suggested in the proposal image. That way, the user could press a button next to a VSE track to add an additional dedicated big meter in the audio mixer panel for that track exclusively (you could have several enabled at a time and they would stack horizontally).
It might also make sense to have the audio mixer panel be "built into" the VSE like the sequencer preview is, for the sake of convenience.
