alt drag tweak to adjust depth
when using the g tool to drag an object in the view plane (or shift XYZ) it would be awesome if I could hold the alt key and push/pull the object closer/away from me.

Problem in usability. Blender default menus for transform orientation is way too slow to use in compare to PIE, as result uncomfortable/useless. And because it slow you don't want to go each time to this menu, to change TO, to just do some move by depth and then go back and change TO back... so you looking for some Alt to drag by depth.
Just get some PME addon > create custom PIE for transform orientation > change TO from any to View or back to any in ~ 0.1 second > move by View TO Z ...
Hold MMB and you can choose direction X Y Z, after you choose direction you can release MMB and tweak position just by moving mouse. It also work with custom rotation of the object with Local Transform Orientation
* @Eugene D * Not exactly what was proposed
* @ Lse Cpp * you can select any you want set Transform Orientation to View and do what I described earlier. But yeah that's not hold the alt key...
