Apply transform but ignore linked data objects

When we apply transform, e.g. scale, to a selection of objects spanning both singe-users and multi-users of mesh data, the operation fails, due to multi-users conflict. In such case, I would like to be able to skip multi-users and only apply transforms to single-users.

There is a workaround but requires sifting through objects first, discarding multi-users, and that's only possible with a custom script that was posted there:

blender.stackexchange.com/questions/227902/selecting-only-single-user-objects

It should be inherent for the operation to skip multi-users and prompt the user about how many objects were skipped.
