Option for shrinkwrap modifier to easily use big amount of (undefined) target objects

Basically I' like to have a way to shrinkwrap one object over tens/hundred/thousands of others without having to add new shrinkwrap modifier for each. So for example I have a line I want to shrinkwrap to hover 10cm over many other objects. Or I want to add a decal on a spacehip in a place that happens to be over several objects (windshield+body panel+window frame, window seal for example).

First option is to have a new modifier or shrinkwrap mode (called simple projection or decal wrap or something else). That works pretty much like the current shrinkwrap in projector mode but you don't specify a target for it. Instead you just define a direction and then in that direction it simply snaps to first object surfaces in that direction. Could be one object, could be hundreds. For user this is super easy and quick to use because it fast to set up for complex shrinkwraps. You can easily move it around because different parts of the object are not tied to different objects through shrinkwraps and vertex groups. Could be easier to animate as well.

Other option is to simply allow the shrinkwrap target be an object group. So you make an object group called spaceship exterior and then add shrinkwrapped decal to that group. Easy to use and quick to set up.

Shrinkwraps taking Collections as a target is the solution here, and a good idea. I also like the idea of shrinkwrap projection that will apply to any arbitrary target, but that sounds like it would be really ambiguous and rarely useful in situations with complex geometry.

* @Josephbburg * I am not sure if I agree that it is ambigious. I agree that it might be rarely useful but when it is it would be extremely useful in those cases. Plus most of the time the unspecified target would be faster because the target for shrinkwrap is in most cases obvious and the nearest object anyways so you could just skip that target which would speed up things.
