Options to rotate the image in the Image Editor
Hi.
Not "high priority" of course but I think it would still be handy.
Suggestion: In the Image Editor, add a Rotate button in the left toolbar and a Transform sub-menu in the Image menu.

The Rotate button would allow to rotate the image freely (any rotation angle) and a long click on the button could display other options like the ones listed bellow.
The "Transform" sub-menu could feature:
- Rotate 180°
- Rotate Clockwise
- Rotate Counter Clockwise
- Flip Vertically
- Flip Horizontally

Is this solely for viewing or for modifying the image ?
* @Hadrien Brissaud * That is a good question.
There are several possibilities:
The rotation that is applied to the image is temporary and only for viewing . Not being permanent makes the user have to redo the rotation when he/she opens the .blend file the next time (if he/she wants to rotate it again..). Making it temporary prevents the original image to be modified on the disk.
The rotation is permanent between Blender sessions and modifies the original image , meaning that when the user actually rotates it, changes are applied on disk to the original image. Benefits: The next time the .blend file is opened, the image stays the way it was (with its previous rotation).
The rotation is permanent between Blender sessions but the rotation that the user sees in the Image Editor doesn't modify the original image . In this case, I guess Blender would have to create a copy of the image (in a temp folder?) in order to apply rotations on that copy only. Benefits: the original image isn't modified on disk and the rotation is kept.
I tend to like #3 (if it's technically possible, code-wise).
Note that when ("Resize" or "Invert Colors" for example) modifications are applied on the image, when Blender is about to be closed, the user is asked if he/she wants to save the modifications that were performed on the image.

Maybe the same behavior should happen for rotations.
Number 3 sounds great
Having it in the menu makes probably more sense, otherwise a general rotate tool like in Photoshop would fit well too.
Do we have any update for this? I would love to have this feature
I think there is one more possibility: 3. Save the transformation-info in the blendfile.
