Constraints - Follow path is hilariously unintuitive

Please can we have a look and rework how the "Follow path" constraint works, because setting it up is always a massive pain.

I am 100% sure everyone has this same issue.

I sort of assume, the constraint displaces your object because of the transforms data of either the curve or the mesh, but rarely do I manage to have my object be snapped to the curve and it ends up moved beyond the viewport to a "random" place.

Do I need to parent it first, do I need to place my object on the curve first or is it gonna be done by the constraint? I have no idea.

The fact that I don't even know what is really causing the issue, for such a seemingly simple task, is I think a valid reason to maybe have a look at how it works and have it more streamlined.

Thanks for your time to read and hope you have a wonderful day!

Agreed. Even though I've gone through the process half a dozen times, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to figure it out without watching a tutorial again.
