Progress bar on Export
At the moment, I find it hard to know when objects are done exporting to .fbx for example. There isn't much going on with the UI during export except for a general freeze. I end up scrolling in the 3D view to see when it's becoming responsive again and telling me it's done, I can go safely refresh in the other program. A progress bar would be very conveniant as it would give a hint at how much time is left. But I understand that the coding of a progress bar could be tricky. So a simple UI hint that something is happening would be a good start.

And "Save" progress too
* @ Lsscpp * You mean a progress bar while saving the file ? I completely agree. While saving files is usually extremely fast with blender, larger scenes can take some time... On import too it could be useful, but it has already been suggested. But in my opinion import is less of a problem since there is a change in the 3D view, so you know when it's done importing.
The progress-bar also needs to be exposed in the API, so add-ons can use it.
Basically everything should have a progress bar instead of locking blender and making us think it will crash, even doing open gl previews or 1 frame renders, imports and exports, i Totally agree with this I know the idea is that we shouldnt have loading bars because things should be incredibly fast, but the faster things are the more people are encouraged to push it and do things that at some point will be "slower" and progress bar would be needed. Also would be nice if that whatever it is executed would log how long it takes.
we have good hopes in 2.9. We can expect it then at-least.
