The view angle should only effect the viewport on which we are working:

Currently, in quad view when we maximize different viewport the perspective view always change its view angle despite not working on it. The view angle should only change on the viewport in which we are working .

For example:

As you can in the below video link that how it works on Blender

This is how I want viewport should to work in a blender

For clarification of my example I have shared the video of 3DS MAX to give the clear idea.

I see that you can make full screen the view you are in with the mouse, for me exit from quadview is always to perspective view. I miss that from max. What blender version is that?

In all Blender version by default the maximized other viewport is locked, we have to uncheck the locked, below are the step-by-step instruction of how to do it:

  1. First, press Ctrl + Alt + Q for 4 Quad menus to appears.
  2. Then go to side menu (N menu), which will appear by pressing N.
  3. In side menu (N menu) go to view panel.
  4. In view panel there is the last tab called Quad View click on it. Inside it there is lock option unchecked it.

However there is still one issue in Blender that it does not matter in what view we are working whenever we maximize any viewport then return to quad view the perspective view will change its view angle instead of that particular view. To solve this issue I have made this proposal.

Well for the folks which have the background of 3DS MAX/Maya for them this quad view feature is important. As in both 3DS MAX/Maya quad view is the way of switching things.

Yes I know the feature is already present but the only downside in this when working in different viewport and when we maximize the different viewport the perpective become that view port in other words perspective view change its angle instead of particular view. For clarification here is the video which shows how this work in 3DS MAX and how its works in blender

My Screenshot is not using "quad view". I created a new workspace and named it Quad and put 4 individual viewports on there. Each can be its own orthorgraphic or perspective view and has no effect on the others. Save the workspace to your default scene file and now you'll always have a sensible quad workspace in all files. You can also import the workspace into old files instead of having to make it from scratch.

The problem is with this workflow that we have to manually create quad viewports. Sure we can save workspace, but I used blender in multiple system, so I have to manually set on each system not to mention I always update to new version of blender due to which I have set each time.

Look, I know we can create the quadview but why not make automatic feature instead of creating manually even if we have to create one time only on new version. My proposal will surely can save user from mundane task and increase the little productivity. Don't you agree?

Meh, I don't use quad view so my opinion is probably irrelevant.

Alright mate thanks for input through. I understand

Quad view is anachronistic, learn to use viewport bindings - shift+alt+middle mouse. And yes, RCS didn't fix the video download

Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate your comment? As I did not get it what do you mean by Quad view is anachronistic? Anyway if you are referring that I should use the blender way of doing things then I have. It is just that there are certain times I prefer to work quad view setting when have to work on 4 view at the same time. Also, it is pretty much standard in other 3D software such as 3DS Max, Maya etc.

As for video I did not know why video is not uploading. Here is a link for of that video through. imgur.com/jC0d8A0

I guess he means that it's a legacy thing that doens't have a point in being used nowadays.

And I can understand that, considering Blender's ability to easily and quickly switch between each angle views at the press of a numpad number.
And also the ability to manually split the viewport in as many areas as you want with no limit of number, size and placement. You can go crazy with it:

release the views!!!

The only downside of this is, that there is no way to unify the views. If you compare to Blender's quadview, you can see the quad view is all within one instance of the viewport, meaning it still has one sidebar, one toolbar, one header. You don't have duplicates of these for each view. Even though ther are still linked in function, the UI is duplicated and you have to manually hide it if you want to reduce clutter.

The ability to manually split view is time-consuming, sure I can split views equally and save as workspace but considering I update blender regularly I have to save the workspace each time. Not to mention I used blender on multiple system so I have to manually set the split the viewports manually and save as the workspaces.

The quadview (Ctrl+Alt+Q) is already present by adding my this feature which I have requested will make it complete.

thinsoldier

"i have to save the workspace each time" ... um... you're doing something wrong. You create the workspace and save your Startup File. Next Blender update you use the same startup file. Even if you choose to start with brand new settings in Blender 4.0 you can still append the workspace from any of your old blend files that were saved with that layout inside of them. Takes 5 clicks.

I don't know whether it's the right place to tell. If not, very sorry.

View XPort is my blender addon. Its "View Channel" feature seems address your request.

youtube.com/watch

Already features that treat sideview and 3d region separately,

“toggle quad view x”, maximize sub view no matter lock state and remember lock state

“view channel”, remember view point of subview when toggling between mono/quad view

“lock view rotation x”, lock side view and 3d region (persp view) separately

“smart middle mouse”, change behavior on locked/unlocked (view rotation) sub view

btw,

“memorize” (view saver) save all 4 subviews of quadview

“smart region overlap”, smart change sidebar overlap to opt layout for quadview

Can someone let me know what I do wrong over here? How can I make my proposal more appealing and get enough upvotes? Is there something I am missing? Kindly blender users do let me know if there is some confusion on it.

uvtofu

Sorry to disturb, but have you looked the video I showed above?
