Parameter Settings Panel for active selection in shader editor (faster and easier texturing workflow).

Hello guys. I would like to propose a feature/implementation for blender that would help it's long term vision of being a procedural based software similar to other softwares like Houdini.

I am not that familiar with Houdini but as far as I can observe they are probably making use of those side panels. It is a wise thing to do in my opinion. Nodes can help you create things in a more adaptable and flexible manner, one diminishing return could be that it would on the other hand cause the workflow to slow down significantly especially if all of your workflow depends on nodes only. This is why I would like to present a rough idea of what may be a helpful and productive way to prepare blender by making use of the side panel as a utility for powerful parameter settings.

The mock up below just show some of the basic possibilities if this would be implemented. One node feature useful for this workflow would by some kind of smart multi layer node that has different kind of abilities underneath which in this case the side panel/parameter settings would show all of the possibilities under the hood just be clicking a simple active object which is the first layer of the multi layer node.

Ex: When I click the first layer, some advance settings can be found in the parameter settings located on the right corner of the window.

I hope we could see something like this in the near future for blender. Thanks.

I think someone within the Blender Foundation has proposed enhancing node groups to allow specifying which things from inside the group show up in the properties panel. It would have the opposite effect of your proposal. The properties panel would show minimal user friendly settings and if you wanted to adjust other settings you would have to do it in the node editor. I do like your proposal for very complex things that have node groups within node groups within node groups.

* @thinsoldier * I see. One reason I hsve thought about this feature request is because blender tends to need multiple nodes just to achieve simple results.
