Hiding and unhiding objects should NOT affect selection

When you hide an object or multiple objects and press ALT-H to unhide all hidden objects Blender selects ALL these objects. This is often very inconvenient because the reason you are unhiding them is usually just to (temporarily) see them, NOT to manipulate them.

If I wanted to Select All I would press the hotkey for Select All. Often I'll be working on a specific object and just want to briefly toggle the visibility of hidden objects for reference or comparison. Now I'm forced to re-select the object I was actually working on every time.

Unhiding should not affect selection. It might be debatable whether you should be able to manipulate (say, move or delete) an object while it is hidden if still selected - perhaps not - but there is no good usability reason why unhiding objects should select all of them. Unhiding other objects should preserve your existing selection and not add anything to it.
