Create/Add Group Input from the "Outside"

In Blender 5.2 there's a neat "+" button for adding new input socket to Capture Attribute node. It would be great to have this also for the group inputs. addgroupinput.jpg

It's not crrently in development (as I'm writing, we are the 10th of August 2026) but this feature is being conceived and designed by developpers at the moment.

I cannot bring more information on this since I don't have more information really, but the main principle is to work similarly like we can already with Bundles and Lists, in the way you can, right now in Blender 5.2, have a bundle input on your node tree, connect a "combine bundle" node to it, and plug as many inputs as you want in it. Inside the node tree, you can handle all the abitrary inputs using lists.

This is the current "workaround" but from this broad idea, their is indeed a goal to convert this workflow into a fun plug and play dynamic arbitrary inputs system.

Hope to hear more about it soon

I definitely like the general idea, but I'm not sure I'd want the added bulk all the time. It would be quite useful to have an easy way to add sockets from outside a group, but I'd rather it not be something that makes nodes any larger than they already are.

It might be better to add an option in the group settings panel to add it as a socket type instead of always having it on by default.
