EXR Multi-Channel Multi-Layer Saver
I absolutely love how we have a Multi-Layer EXR saver! It really helps out compositing. However it doesn't seem to have the capability to save out an arbitrary number of channels/passes.
The request suggested is the ability to have the "Layer" to be the ViewLayer, along with the ability to then stack as many of the channels into each layer.
Since it currently (5.2) is creating a layer/part for each channel, and seems to only use the first 1-4 channels depending upon the channel output, I believe you need to create a Reader/Loader for each part you want to use.
With all of the features the current Multi-Layer EXR has, would it be a good idea to allow the user to create (or not) the specific layer(s) desired, and then add the passes/channels to the desired layers?
Example:
- You set up a "FG" ViewLayer, and a "BG" ViewLayer.
- FG you turn on the desired view layer passes.
- BG you turn on the ones desired like Diffuse Color or Alpha.
- Create both the Render Layer input nodes.
- Plug in your output passes to a single File Output node.
- Set/Create 2 layers. "FG" and "BG".
- Set all the "FG" passes to be in the "FG" layer.
- Set the "BG" passes into the "BG" layer.
I can imagine this would give the user the capabilities creating any layers desired, and putting any/all passes desired for that layer/part into it.
Primary reason for this request is instances, such as Cryptomatte, which currently creates multiple layers, which in some compositing software requires a Loader/Reader for each Cryptomatte channel, and then re-combined in order to use.
