VSE proxy preview in the 3D viewport
This is the situation: I'm making a VFX short video, I'm editing with the VSE and adding 3D models or grease pencil. My best workflow at the moment is editing, exporting then importing as a video texture on a plain. It works, but if I have to change the edit I go back, export import, it's a very convoluted process.
Maybe it could be built as a plugin, but it seams to me that if one automated the exporting to proxy and import as plain as a 3D plain.

Really the workflow between Texture/Material nodes and the VSE need to be rethought. Perhaps have an actual VSE Channel node in the Compositor/Texture Node imputs?
I'm not sure I understand the use case, do you want to animate against video clips that are edited? You can add a scene strip in the VSE that shows the camera output. You can leave that VSE preview window open and continue to edit/animate in a 3D view. You can now even add other scene's VSE outputs to your current scene VSE
