Instancing (or CopyTo) Modifier

I am sure it was already propose but i can't find it in the research. The idea is to have a ability to copy a mesh to vertex / faces / volume of another one. Parameters can be : Orientation (vector, normal), get color from vertex, get size from geometry data...

I think it's futur option in everything node project, but have a Modifier for that can be candy for many situation.

Right now we need to create a particles system to create mesh over another one, and it's overkill when we need only 30 instances and precise placement. Be a part of the modifier slack is a must.

I must be old school - Went looking in the Manual for "Dupliverts" !

It's now called "Instancing" Manual Reference

Well, there's the very old duplication feature for that... It doesn't let the child object to inherit vertex color data, nor it scales on vertex weight of its parent, but it can adapt its rotation from vertices/faces normals and I think it does his job quickly, preventing us to set a particle system. Don't you agree? Oh by the way, before sticking with Everything nodes you could still enjoy Animation nodes! ;-) Schermata-del-2020-03-05-20-43-44

* @peaolo81 * thank you, i learn everyday, in 2.8 the tab is call "instancing" . it do want i wanted, yeah! Maybe some option call be add here ? It is a pretty cool function. Add multiple instance depend of the hierarchy. Color vertex and vector orientation.

IMHO it would be nice to have this as a modifier anyway (plus some extra options, like vertex weights, data inheritance, ...). And that would allow some cool features, like adding the instances somewhere precise in the modifier pile, have multiple instance modifiers to add instances increments, etc.

I like the instancing, but i think that a CopyTo or Instance Modifier can be useful because i can be deform by other modifiers in the stack, i see it like an Array with more options.
