centre view to selected/active

I propose that the view menu has the additional two options added:

centre view to selected (centres view to selected object, or selected face/vert/edge if in edit mode.

centre view to active (same as above but centres to active if multiple selected)

the numpad . is nearly there, but it also zooms in on the object which is unwanted in some cases.

I'm aware of the workaround of snapping the 3d cursor to the selection and then using centre to cursor, but often you might need to leave the 3d cursor where it is.

Another one that might help is to hold Alt and press Middle mouse click wherever you want to center the view. It keeps the distance between the clicked spot and the view by knowing how far the object is from you. When clicking, try not to move the cursor, as there is the function of changing perspective (numpad 1, 3 and 7 perspectives)

* @gerardtaulats * alt middle click isn't always a good solution, because it centres to the mouse not the face. Particularly when rolling the view with shift + 6 or shift + 4 on the numpad.

So, all that is needed is Frame Active.

bpy.ops.view3d.view_selected() Or View>Frame Selected.

Frame Selected can be used in multiple modes.

* @Rodger Davis * I wasn't able to find a way of using that operation without zooming. The operator only has a 'use all regions' parameter, but that doesnt appear to affect the zooming (mapped to ctrl numpad .)
