It would be nice if Blender let you define a preset e.g. Animation=frame seq/no audio, Clip=video/no audio, Movie=video AND audio

jason

You mean to have different settings in the Output tab of the Properties editor?

* @Jason van Gumster * yes

* @thinsoldier * So, to make sure I understand, you're proposing that when a user chooses File > New > Video Editing, that the Output tab should be pre-configured to have FFMPEG as the output type with one of the video presets that includes audio chosen.

Right?

If so, I can get behind that. Which preset do you think it should be? h.264 in MP4?

* @Jason van Gumster * I don't have a preference really. I just know I've forgotton to enable audio in those settings before rendering far too many times. Maybe instead of a changeing the new video editing startup file there could be an option to automatically activate the audio setting the first time you add anything containing audio to your project.

I assume it is far easier to strip all audio from a video (or mute the video when you go to play it) than it is to add audio you forgot to add in the first place.

* @thinsoldier * I wouldn't want that. I often animate to sound that I've loaded, but don't intend to be in the final mix.

This is probably something that's most specific to the video editing workflow and should be set there.
