Align bones
With rigify we need to have the bones aligned. ie. the end of one bone corresponding to the start of the next one. I did not find an easy way to do that but editing the positions by hand.

Rigify bones start “as connected”, as they need to be. If something has become disconnected, it’s because the user didn’t move a bone element in the correct way.
I just use the Armature>Rigify meta-rigs>Animals>Bird and mode the bones to match the velociraptor I am rigging. Nothing fancy. And when Generate Rig I have got this error, but precisely explained. Aligning bones and everything worked fine. I believe this often happens, so I think a function to help to solve this could be appreciated. But not major.
Does
ctrl + p: Connected work for you? It should connect the first selected bone to the secondHave to test, but I believe all parents are properly set in Rigify Meta-rigs.
Of course, making parent works, but then the generate rig does not work.
Ridify is sensible to alignment of bones. I do not understand what can be the reason not to connect the bones, but it does not work and "generate rig" does not work when you do so. But the alignment can be done easily, just ticking the connected select box in the bone definition what align the bones, and unticking it immediately. So obvious, I feel sad to have bordered for so little.
The function somehow exists!
