2.8 proposal : C4D-like HUD in the viewport
One of my favourite functionality in Cinema 4D is the ability to bring any parameter onto the viewport as a small HUD. It helps focus on a single window, avoiding the hassle of going back and forth between panels.

This is nice, but he didn't show that we can also drag and drop into the viewport, which is even nicer... 😉
@theredwaxpolice: Indeed !
@theredwaxpolice: I love the drag and drop intention. So much needed on Blender! not only for parameters but for the new "dot" indicators to animate parameters. They could reference themselves by drag drop as well.
@3dcinetv: OMG! This is even amazing!!!
@3dcinetv: If you look closely at the gif, you can see that the dot goes with the parameter, and of course you can keyframe from there..
So something like planed Active Tool Tweaking developer.blender.org/T55039 but also for any driver?
@Pawel Piotrowski: Yes, for any keyframable parameter, just like it's shown in the video. Right-click > Add to HUD
Here's an anwser sent yesterday from @PabloVazquez_ : "HUD's are coming actually. The floating redo panel is the groundwork for this. I forgot to mention it in the UI video yesterday. Will make sure I do in the live stream tonight :) "
I like this. Would like to see a single hotkey that would bring the current tool's HUD widget to the current mouse location; without having to dig around in the properties panel.
Having an option to Customize HUD can be really helpful! But, I guess, this won't be a simple feature request. In my understanding it needs a bigger architecture planning! Hope to see it implemented though!
@sreenivas9alapati: Well, actually it seems to be quite a simple thing to implement. This is already do-able using python and openGL.
@nicolas.priniotakis1: oh! That's great then! Looking forward to see it implemented!
