Enable solidify modifier "Even Thickness" option by default

I don't know if I am the only one, but when I use the solidify modifier 90% of the time I'll need enable the "Even Thickness" parameter.

I'm wondering why it is disabled by default? Is it much more slow? Some other modifiers have slower settings as defaults (e.g. triangulate modifier->Polygon Method = Beauty, which is slower)
