Nondestructive join / group for multiple objects

One of very missing feature in Blender is possibility to group multiple object to one piece which will look like one object (like when you link object from external source), but there will be still possibility to edit inside of this group (inplace or separately). It works great for example in Sketchup.

It is very useful for complex scenes with many objects like in architectural design.

It will be even more important when some asset manager will be finally implement in blender. Then you can easily see all the final objects like (bed, desk, switch, lamp) inside of "library" and easily put it to the scene directly on desired place.

It is possible to simulate via instances, but it is quite, hard, there is plugin which makes it much better blendermarket.com/products/quick-instance/docs but it still has a lot of limitations.

Much better is this gumroad.com/l/GroupPro/
